I really wish I got more school newspapers from around the state. I saw this in the Clarion newspaper. Yikes on the copy editing job there.
"Eagles even reocord at 2-2 with win over Glenville State"
And I am not making that up either. That really happened.

I could tell you some funny stories about goofs made when I was a copy editor in Wheeling. It does happen...One time a caption got switched under a picture of someone putting up Christmas lights on their house (and all you could see was the window and one person), and instead under the pix there was the blurb from the Real Estate house of the week ("This lovely 3-bedroom home features a three-car garage and two bathrooms.") That one was hard to explain. (Two captions headed "House" in the files, and the person checking didn't catch it.)The managing editor apologized to the publisher by saying, "Our copy editors are having trouble tying their shoes right now". The publisher barked, "Then give them Velcro."
